Reverse IP Lookup

Reverse IP Look up is tracing an IP address back to the server of origin. This information can sometimes provide the name and/or the location of an individual who has only left you their IP address as a calling card. This is particularly useful when dealing with unwanted commentary, spammers, or more serious breaches of protocol such as Denial Of Service attacks.

The information provided by a reverse IP lookup can be used in a number of ways. When dealing with an individual posting from their home connection, it will let you find out A) their general location and B) their internet service provider. In the case of illegal online activities the ISP can be contacted and they may revoke the user's account.
